Why is brand important?
A “brand” is the perception or reputation of an organization that results from the communication, associations and experiences people have with an organization. A strong and consistent brand identity reflects and supports the mission and values of the ILO, and influences how our constituents and partners perceive the ILO, its mandate and its programme.
Our brand defines us as an organization and supports our mandate. It sits at the heart of everything we do, helping us to answer questions such as:
What does our organization stand for? Why does our work matter? What is our role in the world?
We have defined these through our brand essence: why we exist, what we do, and who we are. This foundation has guided development, and should continue to guide future development, of all brand assets.
The ILO’s purpose is to advance social justice for universal and lasting peace through better working lives for all people. The way we deliver this is through our tripartite structure and our brand and visual identity reflect this central mechanism.
